Holston Companies recently broke ground on a new oil recycling facility in the Chattanooga, Tenn., area. The facility, when complete, should be able to handle around 6 million gallons of used oil a year, according to John Williams, president of the company. At the present time the company has operations in North Carolina and South Carolina, as well as a facility in the Chattanooga area.
Along with putting in equipment to handle a significant amount of used oil, the new operation will include office space for the company’s headquarters.
Williams says that the oil recycler will be taking material from both consumer and industrial operations, and convert the recycled and reprocessed product into fuel oil, which will be sold to various manufacturers in the area.
While aluminum smelters, paper mills, and other types of manufacturers will be able to use the fuel, Williams says the plan is to keep the shipment area within 300 miles.
Along with the other manufacturing operations, a typical user would be an asphalt plant.
