The Mahoning County, Ohio, Commissioners office is in the process of issuing a Request for Proposal for companies interested in conducting a one-day collection program for electronics scrap. Materials slated to be collected would include computer equipment, as well as peripherals, telephones, television sets and other electronics equipment. White goods and kitchen appliances will not be included in the one-day event. These include toasters, refrigerators and microwaves.
The event will be held Oct. 18th, and will be held at the Canfield, Ohio fairgrounds. The Commissioners office will be sending out the RFPs to prospects in the state who handle electronics scrap. It is estimated that the number of companies receiving the RFP will be between 25-30.
The collection program will be the first for the county. As part of the RFP, the county is stipulating that all prospective bidders must certify that none of the collected material will be shipped to a landfill for final disposal.Latest from Recycling Today
