Rocky River, Ohio, and Simple Recycling, a curbside clothing recycling company headquartered in Solon, Ohio, have formed a partnership to being a soft textile recycling program, a report by cleveland.com says.
According to Rocky River Director of Public Safety Service Mary Kay Costello, Simple Recycling mailed orange bags to residents and are asking for clothing, shoes, handbags and small household textiles such as blankets, drapes or curtains, sleeping bags, tools, silverware, dishes and pots and pans.
Once residents fill the orange bags, they will be able to place them on their lawn for curbside pickup on their normal refuse pickup day, the report says. Once a bag is picked up, a replacement will be left on a resident’s front door.
Rocky River will receive a $20 per ton rebate from Simple Recycling, Costello said in the report. She also said that the city will continue to collect blue bags of co-mingled recycling along with the Simple Recycling bags.
Specific items accepted by Simple Recycling include men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, coats and jackets, jewelry, shoes, purses, hats, toys, backpacks and pillows.
