The city of Girard, Ohio, has been cleared to continue its legal battle against a company that has proposed to build a construction and demolition debris landfill within its limits, according to a report in the Youngstown Vindicator (Youngstown, Ohio).
In mid-December, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ruled that Total Waste Logistics would not have to meet new state regulations governing C&D landfills for the facility it had proposed off U.S. Route 422 in Girard, Ohio. The city’s law director appealed the ruling, but the state attorney general’s office requested the appeal be dismissed because it was filed too late, according to the report.
