The Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency (N.Y.) approved a plan to purchase 50 recycling containers. The agency voted last week to purchase the 65 gallon containers that will allow for collecting multiple types of recyclables.
The containers, costing around $722 each, will be placed at public locations throughout the county, including the airport, convention center, train and bus stations, and several museums.
Andy Brigham, with the OCRRA, says the agency expects to have the containers installed in the very near future, although he opted not to commit to a certain date.
According to Brigham, the containers will be placed at locations where many non-residents of the county can be reached.
According to local press reports, total cost of the containers will be $33,200.
The public authority's board also approved a test program that will allow Onondaga County residents to recycle their old computers for free beginning Jan. 1.
