The National Waste and Recycling Association (NWRA) Women’s Council has released an internship toolkit to assist waste and recycling companies develop a program. The two-piece toolkit contains a guide to developing an industry internship program for the company and an internship journal for the trainee.
“This free toolkit was developed to address industry workplace shortages, promote careers within the industry and help groom the next generation of industry professionals. We believe this toolkit will assist in attracting and retaining talented individuals new to the waste and recycling industry,” says Katie Raverty-Evans, NWRA Women’s Council’s professional development chair.
“This is another example of the NWRA Women’s Council’s dedication to advancing the waste and recycling industry member companies by providing them a turn-key toolkit for launching or enhancing internship programs in the waste industry,” says NWRA Women’s Council President Carmen Smothers.
The National Waste and Recycling Association Women’s Council was established in 2003 for member company employees dedicated to professional development, education and networking. In addition to this program, the council awards academic scholarships to those pursuing a career in the industry. To date, the council has awarded over $175,000.
