Charlotte, North Carolina-based electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaker Nucor Corp. has announced plans to build a TrueCore manufacturing facility in Brigham City, Utah. The 120,000-square-foot facility, which is expected to be operational in 2022, will make insulated wall and roof panels from steel and other materials.
“We are excited to be building our third TrueCore facility in the last three years,” says Conor Lowery, director of operations at TrueCore. “Locating in Utah will give us a national footprint and allow us to competitively service our customers in the western United States and Canadian markets.”
TrueCore panels are used as exterior walls, interior partitions, ceilings and roofs in the cold storage, commercial and industrial construction markets. With thicknesses ranging from two to eight inches and widths up to 44 inches, the company’s panels use coated steel.
“Building this third TrueCore facility will greatly expand our capacity and enhance our ability to service our metal building customers,” says Jeff Carmean, president of Nucor Buildings Group. “This new facility will further our strategy of growing our line of value-added products for our customers.” Nucor acquired TrueCore in late 2019.
In addition to its EAF mill and building products operations, Nucor, through the Cincinnati-based David J. Joseph Co., also processes and brokers ferrous and nonferrous metals and other melt shop feedstock materials.
