Nucor Corp., Charlotte, North Carolina, has promoted Dave Sumoski to the position of executive vice president (EVP) of engineered bar products. The division includes the special bar quality (SBQ) and cold-finished steel business sectors. Sumoski has been vice president and general manager of Nucor Steel Memphis Inc. since 2012.
Jim Darsey, who has served as EVP of bar products since 2010, will focus on merchant and rebar products.
“Nucor has 13 bar mills and six cold finish facilities located across North America,” comments John Ferriola, Nucor chairman, CEO and president. “With our recent strategic investment of approximately $290 million to expand Nucor’s SBQ and wire rod production capabilities, Nucor continues to expand our product offerings and to supply the most demanding engineered bar application markets.”
Ferriola adds, “Dave's promotion to EVP of engineered bar products will enable our team to focus on this significant investment, while continuing to provide quality service to the merchant and rebar markets. Dave is a proven Nucor leader who will be a strong addition to our executive management team.”
