Nucor Acquiring Assets of Steel Bar Producer

Deal will enhance Nucor's operations in the Midwest.

Nucor Corp. entered an agreement to purchase substantially all of the assets of Fort Howard Steel, Inc.'s Oak Creek, Wis., operations.

 

Fort Howard is a producer of cold finished bar product. It has an annual capacity of about 140,000 tons. The addition of this business to Nucor's existing operations creates a market leadership position for Nucor in the area of cold finished bar products.

 

The transaction is expected to close by the middle of next month.
