National Recovery Technologies (NRT), based in Nashville, Tenn., has opened a 202-square-meter demonstration center in Suzhou, China. According to a release, the new facility continues NRT’s investment in the Chinese market. Kevin Lu will represent NRT in China and will oversee the expanded facility.
“Kevin has our full trust and support, which is why we made this investment into one of the most important markets in the world,” says NRT’s CEO Matthias Erdmannsdoerfer. “We plan to be an integral part of Chinese recycling efforts for years to come. NRT is looking to lead the industry by continuing to provide best-in-class optical sorting equipment, while sticking to our core philosophies of technology, quality and customer service.”
The demo center features NRT’s MultiSort SpydIR-T/ColorPlus Combo with more equipment scheduled to be added in the future.

Further contributing to the company’s presence in China, NRT was recently named the “Excellent China Green Plastics Recycling Enterprise” by the China Scrap Plastics Association (CSPA). According to the CSPA, the award was presented to NRT, “In view of your company’s excellent performance in the scrap plastics sorting equipment, technology research, development and innovation.”
NRT, founded in 1981, owns or is the exclusive licensee of 29 U.S. patents and five foreign patents covering NIR, x-ray, laser, and line camera sorting systems. The company was acquired by Bulk Handling Systems this past April.
