NRC Offers Congress Scholarships

Five college students will receive scholarships to attend the NRC Congress & Expo.

The National Recycling Coalition (NRC), based in Washington, D.C., is offering five full scholarships to its 25th Annual Congress & Expo to college students.

The event will be Oct. 22-25, 2006, in Atlanta. NRC will fund travel, hotel and registration expenses as well as a one-year membership in the NRC. Scholarship funding is provided through a partnership with The Coca-Cola Co., in conjunction with NRC’s College and University Recycling Council (CURC).

"We are excited to offer several college students the chance to participate in educational sessions and workshops, to network with leading professionals in the recycling industry and to explore opportunities for careers in recycling," Kate Krebs, NRC's executive director, says. "We have been striving to bring more college students to the Congress & Expo, and this year, thanks to The Coca-Cola Co.'s assistance, we can fully fund the experience for several students."

To apply for a scholarship, students must complete an application available at www.RecyclingConference.org. Eligible students must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at a recognized university, college or technical school during Fall 2006 or have graduated within the past year. A letter of recommendation from a faculty or staff member must also be included. Applications must be received by NRC no later than 5:00 p.m. ET, Sept. 11, 2006.
