The National Recycling Coalition (NRC), Washington, has recognized RetroBox of Columbus, Ohio, an information technology remarketing and disposal firm, as the Outstanding Minority Business. The NRC honored award winners Wednesday, Sept. 1, during the 23rd Annual Congress & Exposition in San Francisco, California.
NRC presented the award to RetroBox for outstanding leadership and achievement in the recycling field for the past three years. RetroBox was chosen by means of criteria including coverage and longevity within the industry, innovation in meeting needs, a documented effect on recycling, program economics, education and outreach and demonstration of leadership within the recycling field.
"For RetroBox to win this award is a significant recognition in both the minority and recycling communities," said Stampp Corbin, president and CEO of RetroBox. "The demand for outsourced computer retirement and recycling services has allowed RetroBox to grow exponentially, and in turn, enabled us to serve as a role model for other minority owned businesses in this industry."
RetroBox is also a member of the Association of Ohio Recycler's board, and an appointed member of the Governor's Minority Business Council in Ohio.
A press release announcing the award states that RetroBox is dedicated to diverting personal computers, laptops, servers, monitors and other IT equipment away from landfills. RetroBox has a zero-landfill policy and accomplishes this goal by remarketing a significant percentage of the IT equipment it collects from Fortune 500 and 1,000 organizations and by routing the balance through downstream recycling partners who are also dedicated to reuse and EPA-compliant disposal.
