Novo Energies Corp., Montreal, has announced it has entered into a supply agreement with Royal Mat Inc., a Beauceville, Quebec, Canada-based wholly owned subsidiary of Novacap, to provide tire-derived fuel (TDF) feedstock for Novo's first tire-to-fuel plant to be constructed and operated in Quebec, Canada. The agreement will allow Novo to transform about 8,000 metric tons of tires into fuel, carbon black and steel per year.
"We look forward to establishing one of the first commercial tire-to-fuel plants in Canada,” says Antonio Treminio, chairman and CEO of Novo. “Our relationship with Royal Mat provides us with a strong foundation to establish this and similar plants throughout Canada. We also intend to continue expanding in other countries, but our main focus shall remain in North America.”
"As a major leader in the North American tire recycling industry and one of the biggest manufacturers and distributors of value-added products made from recycled tire rubber, we, at Royal Mat, have decided to provide TDF to Novo for its novel process to transform waste tires to a fuel product,” says Michel Hould, president of Royal Mat. “We believe that Novo's mission will help us and other companies recycle waste tires and reduce stock piles."
