Novelis Inc. has resumed operation at its site in Greenboro, Georgia, which was the site of an explosion and fire Sunday, March 1.
Novelis says an explosion occurred in the plant, damaging a baghouse and cold-end equipment. While no one was injured, the plant was shut down from Sunday evening until Wednesday, March 4. During that time, employees assessed the situation and cleaned the affected areas.
“The plant has restarted casting operations as of March 4,” the company says, adding that it is investigating the cause of the incident. Customers are not expected to be significantly affected by the incident.
