Novelis Inc. recycled a record 38 billion used beverage cans last year, which is equivalent to 500,000 metric tons of aluminum.
Novelis operates five can recycling facilities -- three in the United States, one in South America and one in Europe. A spokesman for Novelis says that 30 percent of the company’s raw material comes from recycled material.
