The aluminum producer Novelis Inc. has appointed John Gardner vice president and chief sustainability officer, effective January 1, 2011.
In this newly created position, Gardner will lead the development of a globally integrated sustainability program that reflects the company's commitment to delivering sustainable solutions in its processes and products. Gardner will report directly to Philip Martens, Novelis’ president and COO. He also will serve on Novelis’ Executive Committee.
"Sustainability is a core component in the strategy of Novelis," says Martens. "Good corporate responsibility has always been a priority for Novelis, and with this announcement we are making a substantial commitment to further strengthening our sustainability efforts."
Gardner currently serves as vice president, Human Resources and Communications, for Novelis Europe, where has been a member of the company's sustainability platform.
Following Gardner’s appointment, Ryan Jurkovic, currently VP, Human Resources for Novelis North America has been named vice president, Human Resources for Novelis Europe, effective January 1, 2011.
Succeeding Jurkovic as VP, Human Resources for Novelis North America will be Monica Anderton, currently VP, Corporate Human Resources, for Novelis.
