Novelis showcases portfolio of flat-rolled products at Aluminum China 2015

Aluminum manufacturer and recycler Novelis has presented a range of rolled products for the automotive, construction and electronics industries at Aluminum China 2015 held in Shanghai in early July 2015.

Products showcased at the exhibit include an aluminum body for Jaguar Land Rover; the trademarked Coloris brand prepainted aluminum for façade and roofing; and eAQ52, an anodized-quality alloy for consumer electronics.

To provide local automotive makers a single source for inner, structural and outer parts, Novelis opened its Changzhou plant in September 2014 which the company bills as China’s first dedicated aluminum heat treatment facility for automotive sheet. The plant is enabling high-volume aluminum production of lightweight vehicles in China, says Novelis. The company also says the facility offers faster response, shorter lead time and reduced cost and risks associated with supply chain issues. The plant has been supplying local and regional customers, including Jaguar Land Rover and its joint venture in China, since 2014.

The company says global demand for specialty aluminum products could grow 6 percent annually by 2020.

This year, the aluminum maker also began supplying Chinese construction markets with its prepainted Coloris aluminum coils for roofing and facades. Among the projects supplied has been Qingdao International Port.

The company reports that it is also offering eAQ52 anodized-quality 5052 alloy commercially available for demanding cosmetic applications in the electronics industry.

This year, Novelis received the 2014 Excellent Supplier award from China’s automotive manufacturer FAW-VW, in recognition of its value added services and strong collaboration.

Aluminum China 2015 was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from July 8 to 10.
