Novelis is increasing the price of the aluminum coil and sheet standard products that it sells to European distribution and industrial customers. The company's fabrication charge for rolled products will increase by 30 Euro per metric ton for 1000-, 3000- and 5000-series alloys and 6000-series in 'O' temper.
The price change is effective immediately for all new orders booked and for all shipments on or after January 1, 2010. Orders currently under a fixed contract are not affected by this announcement.
Roland Harings, GM, Automotive & Specialities for Novelis in Europe, commented: "Order intake has increased significantly across all major distribution and industrial markets in Europe over recent months. Responsiveness to changing market requirements is more important now than it has ever been and we have been increasing the flexibility of our production capacity to meet customer needs."
