Novelis, a global aluminum rolling and recycling company, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the opening its used beverage can (UBC) recycling plant in Latchford, U.K.
“Back in 1991, the U.K. aluminium can recycling rate was only 2%,” says Steve Hedar, Latchford plant manager. “Today, it is well over 60 percent, in a large part due to the operation of the Latchford plant.
“At the same time, whilst recycling U.K. cans, we have helped charities, small businesses and local authorities raise several million pounds for important local community improvement campaigns which we’re very proud of,” Hedar adds.
After various expansions of the recycling capabilities and manufacturing assets, Novelis says its Latchford facility is Europe’s largest recycling plant dedicated for UBCs and closed-loop recycling operation for automotive aluminium rolled products.
The plant now employs more than 170 people.
