Nova Chemicals Corp., Calgary, Alberta, has announced a long-term agreement with Circulus Holdings PBLLC, a plastics recycler in Houston. As part of the agreement, Circulus will supply Nova Chemicals with recycled polyethylene (rPE).
According to a news release from Nova, the agreement broadens the company’s sources of postconsumer resin (PCR), expands its PCR portfolio and increases available supply for customers.
“Circulus’ focus on environmental sustainability and state-of-the-art technology aligns perfectly with Nova Chemicals’ values and mission,” says Greg DeKunder, Nova’s vice president of polyethylene marketing and circular economy. “Nova Chemicals’ deep market, technical and applications expertise helps enable our customers and brands to incorporate rPE into their products and applications. This agreement with Circulus will help us fulfill value chain demand for rPE and help brand owners and retailers achieve their packaging sustainability goals.”
Nova says the demand for high-quality PCR in packaging is forecasted to increase significantly. The agreement sets up future growth between it and Circulus.
“We are thrilled to work with Nova Chemicals and supply them with our high-quality postconsumer resin,” says David Hudson, Circulus’ founder and CEO. “Through this collaboration and our mutual interest in mechanical recycling, we will drive impactful improvement in the ways PCR is used in consumer goods and packaging.”
