The board of directors of the Northeast Recycling Council (NERC), Brattleboro, Vermont, has elected a new leadership team for the organization.
The board elected Robert Isner of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CT DEEP) as president. He has been the solid waste and hazardous waste program manager for the CT DEEP for the past 18 years. In addition to the NERC, he is on the board of directors for the Connecticut chapter of the Air and Waste Management Association and the Connecticut Recyclers Coalition.
Bryn Oakleaf is the new vice president and a newcomer to the board. She is an environmental analyst in Vermont’s Agency of Natural Resources, Waste Management and Prevention Division, where she is primarily focused on implementing Act 148 of the state’s Universal Recycling Law. Oakleaf’s work also includes administering Vermont’s beverage container redemption law.
George MacDonald is NREC’s new treasurer. He is the director of the sustainability division at the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. MacDonad’s current role is to maintain recycling and waste management policies, as well as to incorporate climate adaptation issues and concerns.
