The Oslo, Norway-based forest products company Norsk Skog has nominated Jon-Aksel Torgersen as its new chairman for its board of directors. He will replace Jarle Roth, who has informed the committee that he will not stand for an additional term as chairman of Norsk Skog’s board.
In announcing that he would not seek a new term as a director, Roth, who was elected chairman in 2014, says that he needed to spend more time with the Norwegian financial services firm Eksportkreditt Norway, where he is the CEO.
The paper company’s nomination committee has unanimously proposed that Torgersen take over as new chairman at the company’s annual general meeting on April 16, 2015.
Torgersen, CEO of Astrup Fearnley AS since 1992, has been a director of Norsk Skog’s board since 2012, and has extensive management and board experience.
Torgersen is also currently chairman at Atlantic Container Line AB and Finnlines Plc and director of the board at IM Skaugen SE and Awilco LNG.
