Laclede Industries, a non-profit company that provides disabled adults with jobs, will be receiving around $50,000 from the state of Missouri’s Environmental Improvement and Energy Resource Authority, an organization affiliated with the state’s Market Development Program.
The agency’s board of directors approved the grant last week. The money will go toward 80 percent of the cost of the glass crushing equipment, as well as ancillary equipment.
While glass recycling markets are minimal, the program also has the benefit of having Waste Management be involved in the collection and delivery of the collected glass to the facility.
'When the machine is in place, Waste Watchers will be able to accept glass products for recycling and send it to Laclede Industries for processing,' a recent Waste Watchers press release said.
