The Ocean County, NJ, Solid Waste Advisory Committee has pushed back until Feb. 28th the date to decide on whether or not to include a proposed C&D facility by Shoreline Sand & Gravel into the county’s solid waste plans.
The company has been operating at the site, in Barnegat, NJ, under a limited temporary permit from the state. That approval is good for one year. The company has been processing rock, concrete and wood that was left on the site when it acquired the property. However, the company is now seeking a permit to allow it to take in material from outside sources.
The county had heard testimony Jan. 24th. However, the county had requested further time to take in comments from the public before making the recommendation. The committee will be taking in comments until Feb. 14th. After that the Advisory Committee will weigh the evidence, as well as the comments, and make its decision.
