Advantage Metals Recycling earns nine safety awards

Advantage Metals Recycling (AMR) has announced that nine of its 16 scrap metal facilities have received the 2014 Corporate Safety Award from the Safety Council of the Ozarks, a regional branch of the National Safety Council. The award is presented to companies that strive to provide a culture of safety at their workplaces, with safety practices and accident rates which are better than the industry average. 

The nine AMR recycling facilities receiving the award are located in Emporia, Kansas City and Topeka, Kansas; and in Clarence, Clinton, Columbia, Holts Summit, Linn Creek and Kansas City, Missouri.

"Achieving these safety awards is truly an honor," says Raynard Brown, president of AMR. “Advantage Metals Recycling employees’ commitment to safety has never been stronger, and this award reflects the entire team’s goal of zero accidents. Safety is our number one focus, and providing a safe work environment is our primary responsibility.”

A spokeswoman for AMR says the company has applied for and received recognition for a number of its yards in the past, though she adds that nine awars are the most AMR has received in a year.

AMR, headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, operates 16 scrap metal facilities in Kansas and Missouri. The company is wholly owned by the large scrap metal company The David J Joseph Co (DJJ), Cincinnati. The company was formerly named The Galamba Group and was acquired by DJJ in 2008.
