The Nickel Institute, based in Brussels, has appointed David Butler its new executive director and general counsel. He will be based at the Nickel Institute’s Toronto office.
Butler previously worked for the law firm Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP where he was a partner. His specialties include antitrust/competition law; business transactions; corporate law; distribution and supply chain; and public policy and regulatory issues. As a partner with the law firm he also was the Nickel Institute’s corporate secretary, a position he will continue to maintain.
Tim Aiken, Nickel Institute’s president, says, “We are delighted to welcome David to the Nickel Institute as a member of the in-house team. He has been instrumental in the development of the Nickel Institute during his long tenure as external legal counsel and corporate secretary. He brings extensive legal experience and knowledge of the nickel sector to the Institute, and I am looking forward to working closely with him to develop further the Nickel Institute’s service to its members and the nickel industry.”
