Epsom, New Hampshire-based New Hampshire the Beautiful Inc., (NHTB), an environmental nonprofit organization, has approved recycling equipment grants for three New Hampshire towns. The NHTB board of directors met Aug. 17 to vote on recipients.

Rye, New Hampshire, received $2,330 to purchase a vertical baler to bale aluminum cans. NHTB says this investment will maximize the marketability and revenue returned for the recycled aluminum.

Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire, received $2,480 to purchase two storage containers to keep materials clean until they can be shipped to market, as well as a self-dumping glass hopper to aid in the collection of recyclable glass containers.

Goffstown, New Hampshire, received $5,000 to replace an inoperable recycling compactor with an updated single stream recycling compactor. NHTB says the new equipment will maximize the amount of recycled material Goffstown can fit into its container, reducing the number of trips required to haul the materials to a processing facility.

The New Hampshire the Beautiful equipment grant program is available to any New Hampshire municipal recycling center or transfer station. Grant applications can be completed on the NHTB website.
