Plastics recycler Nexus Circular LLC, Atlanta, recently appointed Mark Nikolich to its board of directors.

Nikolich, former CEO of Braskem America, brings more than 35 years of “deep domain experience” across strategy, operations and business and market development to the role.

Nexus notes that during his tenure at Braskem, Nikolich championed strategic corporate sustainability initiatives including the launch of new biobased, advanced and mechanical recycled-content polymer product lines. At Nexus, he will leverage his commercial know-how for sustaining value-creating circular solutions and his comprehensive understanding of the polymers industry value chain to enable Nexus’ next stage of growth.

“Mark has a rare combination of commercial discipline and sustainability vision,” Nexus CEO Jodie Morgan says. “His insights into global polymers markets and customer requirements come at the perfect moment as we scale projects and invite like-minded partners to invest with us in technology that accelerates circular feedstock supply.”

As part of his role on the board, Nexus says Nikolich will support the expansion of the company’s manufacturing footprint and partner ecosystem by engaging resin producers, petrochemical operators and advanced recycling partners to deploy Nexus’ technology through offtake-backed collaborations, licensing agreements and joint ventures.

“Having Mark on our team provides a truly unique opportunity for our commercial organization,” says Clint Thompson, chief commercial officer at Nexus. “His intimate understanding of the intersection of strategy and execution in this emerging industry will be invaluable. Our future licensee partners will benefit from his breadth of experience across petrochemical cycles, new technology integration and industry scaling.”
