New Mexico Considers Recycled Tires for Road Applications

Lawmakers in New Mexico have proposed a task force to explore the idea of using the state’s discarded tires in road paving applications, according to a report from KOB-TV, Albuquerque, N.M.

According to the report, approximately 2 million tires per year wind up in the state’s landfills. Nearby states like Arizona use the material to make rubberized asphalt.

The proposed task force would include highway contractors, asphalt producers and state environmental officials.
