The Northeast Resource Recovery Association (NRRA),
Currently, NRRA members sell their recyclables to vendors who reuse the products to create new material. When the items are sorted by residents before they arrive at their local transfer station, it cuts down on processing costs and increases revenue to the municipality.
“Single stream is a great option for some communities,” says Fuat Ari, executive director of NRRA. “However, each town needs to weigh the costs and impact of switching to this method carefully.”
In addition to single stream programs, NRRA is also offering a consolidation program and dual stream recycling program to its members.
