Six leading European electronics recycling companies have joined forces to form the European Electronics Recyclers Association.
The member companies—which include Coolrec BV, Immark AG, MIREC BV, R-plus GmbH, Sims Group UK Ltd., and Stena Technoworld AB—have been active in electronics recycling for many years in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and Switzerland.
EERA’s objectives include working to harmonize national and international regulations on the recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment “to obtain a free market for demand and supply of services.” EERA also plans to promote the electronics recycling industry in the European Union political arena as well as call for environmentally sound operating practices for WEEE recycling activities. Already, one of the new association’s task forces is drafting a policy paper on rules for monitoring compliance.
EERA, led by executive secretary Norbert Zonneveld, is based at Bakenbergseweg 25, 6814 MB Arnhem, The Netherlands; 31/26-3702008; fax, 31/26-3702007; or e-mail eera@chello.nl.
