NEC Electronics America, Inc. today announced that the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) presented the company with its WasteWise "Program Champion" award in recognition of the company's waste reduction program at its semiconductor manufacturing plant in Roseville, Calif. The award honors NEC Electronics America's successful efforts to reduce waste through the implementation of a waste prevention and recycling program in addition to its efforts to reduce the consumption of raw materials in the manufacturing process.
The EPA presented its award to the company at the WasteWise Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony on October 14, 2004, in Washington, D.C. This is the third consecutive year that NEC Electronics America's manufacturing facility has been selected by the EPA for a prestigious WasteWise award.
WasteWise is a free, voluntary EPA program through which organizations eliminate costly municipal solid waste, benefiting both their bottom line and the environment.
WasteWise is a flexible program that allows partners to design their own solid waste reduction programs tailored to their needs.
