The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has invited NEC Electronics America Inc. to join its WasteWise Hall of Fame. In recognizing the company, the EPA highlighted NEC’s commitment to environmental management, including waste management.
The induction honors NEC Electronics America's successful waste reduction program at its Roseville, Calif., manufacturing facility, as well as the company's focus on environmental responsibility.
NEC Electronics America notes that it is the only semiconductor company to achieve Hall of Fame membership, and is only the 14th company overall to achieve this recognition.
"At NEC Electronics America, environmental responsibility is more than a company objective, it is a part of our culture, achieved by the diligent efforts of our employees, to have a positive impact on their environment," says Gabe Kim, vice president of manufacturing operations and plant manager, NEC Electronics America. "We are honored by the EPA's WasteWise Hall of Fame recognition, and we will continue to drive our programs forward, to further reduce pollution and reduce our environmental footprint, and conserve our natural resources."
Previous to being inducted into the EPA's WasteWise Hall of Fame, NEC Electronics America had earned seven WasteWise awards such as Partner of the Year.
WasteWise is a voluntary EPA partnership program that helps organizations eliminate costly municipal solid waste.
