Mike Linder, director of the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality, has announced the awarding of more than $1.765 million through 55 grants for litter cleanup, recycling and public education programs and activities. Funds for the Litter Reduction and Recycling Grant Program are generated from a fee charged to certain manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers of products that commonly contribute to litter.
“Recycling and litter reduction are important issues to all Nebraskans,” Linder says. “These grants to local programs and communities will help us all meet our goal of protecting natural resources in our state.”
