Central Carolina Tire & Disposal, a subsidiary of Liberty Tire, has announced that it is investing around $2.5 million to purchase and install equipment that will allow the company to expand its product line.
The company, which has been operating in Johnsonville, N.C., for 14 years, expects to have a rasper, as well as other pieces of equipment in place by the end of this summer. Once installed, the company hopes to diversify its products, from the tire derived fuel it presently produces, to a more valuable product – crumb rubber.
The company, with 50 employees, expects to hire an additional 22 people when the new equipment is installed.
The company services customers in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
