U.S. Shredder Hits the NASCAR Circuit

Equipment company sponsors David Ragan in All-Star race.

The Number 34 Ford race car piloted by David Ragan at the May 19, NASCAR Sprint All-Star Showdown at Charlotte Motor Speedway will be sponsored by U.S. Shredder, Trussville, Ala.

The race will mark U.S. Shredder’s first foray into NASCAR sponsorship, according to a news release issued by Front Row Motorsports, of which Ragan is a team member.

According to Front Row Motorsports, U.S. Shredder noticed Ragan’s strong run earlier this spring at Talladega (Alabama) and decided to come on board. "We saw David and Front Row Motorsports running well, and we saw there was space available on David's car, so we decided to contact Front Row Motorsports and see if we could work something out," says Bill Tigner, president of U.S. Shredder.

U.S. Shredder supplies equipment and parts to the scrap industry, including shredding plants, castings, wear parts and service to scrap recyclers located throughout the world.

U.S. Shredder has invited the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI ) to share space on the hood of the Number 34 car. The ISRI logo can help highlight that the scrap recycling industry is a $180 billion per year industry that directly employs more than 137,000 people.

As a company, U.S. Shredder says it believes strongly in giving back to the community. Each October, it promotes the "Castings for a Cure" program, donating a portion of all casting sales to the cause of breast cancer research and

Charlotte Motor Speedway will serve as the NASCAR Spring Cup series home for the next two weekends. Ragan says he is glad to be racing at Charlotte once again, a track where he has posted three career top 10 finishes, including a victory in last season’s Sprint All-Star Showdown and an eighth place effort in last year’s NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race.

Crew Chief Jay Guy also is enthusiastic about his team’s recent success. “Our finish at Darlington may not look ultra-impressive in any box score, but the way our team rallied back from an early issue shows the strength of this No. 34 team. It’s great to be back home racing the No. 34 U.S. Shredder Ford.”
