The Napa County, Calif., District Attorney has filed a civil complaint against Vallejo Pull-A-Part over the company’s failure to comply with an earlier order to shut down the operation.
Napa County’s Deputy District Attorney said that the county had revoked the auto dismantler’s use permit on April 4, 2007 after a number of years of contentious issues with the company. Zimmerman noted that two of the big problems have been improper handling of hazardous material and poor storage of material at the site.
However, despite the revocation of the use permit the company continues to operate, which has resulted in the District Attorney’s office filing and serving a civil complaint with the Napa Superior Court. The case is expected to be heard on Aug. 22, 2007.
According to local press reports Vallejo Pull-A-Part was the scene of two fires, which created significant problems to the surrounding areas.
According to press reports, the complaint asks that the auto dismantler be barred from operating and fined at least $50,000, as well as pay any costs for investigating and monitoring the site.
