The Phoenix-based National Association for Information Destruction (NAID) has announced that member-companies e-End, Frederick, Md.; Regional Computer Recycling & Recovery (RCRR), Victor, N.Y.; and Reclamere Inc., Tyrone, Pa., have been awarded NAID AAA Certification for sanitization operations.
NAID says that about half of its 1,700 member locations are currently NAID AAA Certified for physical destruction of hard copy records and computer hard drives; however, only 10 firms have qualified for the organization’s sanitization operations certification.
Bob Johnson, NAID CEO, says these companies should be proud to be members of such an elite group. “The NAID AAA Certification program for sanitization operations is the only certification in the industry that relies on both announced and unannounced audits; is conducted by third-party, accredited security professionals; and tests and verifies the sanitization processes by sending random drives to one the nation’s top forensics labs.” Johnson adds, “Customers of these firms especially value the program because it goes beyond their capability to verify these things themselves.”
The seven other IT asset management firms that have already earned NAID AAA Certification for sanitization operations are Asset Recovery Corp., St. Paul, Minn.; EPC's E-Scrap Processing Center, Earth City, Mo.; LifeSpan Technology Recycling, Denver; Maxxum, Rush City, Minn.; Supply Chain Services Inc., Lombard, Ill.; USM-E, Chicago; and WeRecycle! LLC, Wallingford, Conn.
NAID is the 17-year-old nonprofit trade association representing the secure information destruction industry. The association currently represents more than 1,700 member locations globally.
