Two new directors were elected to the board of the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID), Phoenix, at the group’s Annual Conference, which was held in San Diego in mid-May.
Tim Oberst of Ohio Mobile Shredding, Columbus, Ohio, and Nate Segall of AccuShred, Toledo, Ohio, were elected from a field of ten candidates to serve on the NAID board of directors.
Also, Chris Ockenfels of Document Destruction and Recycling Services, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was confirmed as NAID’s new president-elect. Pat Connor of storage bin maker Jake, Connor & Crew, Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, was elected as vendor liaison to the board.
Ockenfels received further recognition at the NAID annual event when he was announced as “member of the year.” NAID executive director Robert Johnson noted that Ockenfels had performed key roles with the organization, helping form its ethics committee and helping forge a joint resolution/complaint procedure.
The organization’s members also voted to change two of its bylaws. One change will delay the transfer of individual NAID membership upon the sale of a member company, allowing the group to review the proposed new member’s qualifications. It also requires 30 days advance notification of such a change.
Additionally, the group’s members voted to increase the size of the NAID board to eleven people, with one spot always reserved for a representative from one of the large, national destruction firms that contribute significantly to NAID’s dues revenue.
Also at the conference, John Bauknight IV of ShredFirst LLC, Spartanburg, S.C., was installed as the current president of NAID.Latest from Recycling Today
