County officials in Forsyth and Stokes County (N.C.) are still planning to build a construction demolition debris landfill, but not at the original site near Walkerton, N.C., according to a report in the Winston-Salem Journal (Winston-Salem, N.C.)
Officials are considering a 384-acre piece of land that stretches across Forsyth and Stokes counties after the original plan to build the C&D landfill on a 382-acre site near Walkerton drew complaints and criticism from some residents.
A request to rezone the land could be filed with the City-County Planning Department within the next few months, although it could take up to two years for the landfill to actually be opened, according to the report.
