Myers Container LLC, Portland, Ore., has announced Jeremy Letter has joined Myers Container LLC, Container Management Services LLC (CMS) and General Steel Drum LLC (GSD) as environmental, health, safety and sustainability manager. In the newly created position, he will strengthen the company’s focus on integrating sustainable practices into its core business model and drive strategies to become a zero-discharge community participant.
As sustainability manager, Letter will be charged with strengthening the companies’ environmental, regulatory and safety functions and work to position Myers as a company with a unique ability to collect the containers it produces.
According to Myers, the new position reaffirms Myers/CMS/GSD commitment to sustainability. Since 2007, the three companies have established waste output metrics and taken steps to reduce process waste.
Myers Container LLC operates two steel drum manufacturing facilities, while CMS operates multiple container reconditioning and recycling facilities in the western United States. In February, 2011, the company added a new steel drum manufacturing facility in North Carolina that operates under the name General Steel Drum LLC.
