MWR Installs Dust Control Technology System

Company purchases 10 DustBoss units.

Metal & Waste Recycling Ltd. (MWR), based in the United Kingdom, has purchased 10 dust suppression units to be deployed at the company’s facilities throughout the U.K. The company specified the misting devices—built by Dust Control Technology of Peoria, Ill., and supplied through U.K.-based importer, INMALO—to supplement the custom-made static dust suppression systems used at the company’s recycling locations.

MWR specializes in factory collections and total waste management, including end-of-life vehicle and waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) processing.

“The very nature of our business means that dust creation is unavoidable,” says MWR Director John Rice. “We’ve always paid particular attention to the environmental impact that process dust can have, using point-specific dust suppression to ensure maximum control during certain operations.”

However, at times, MWR says it found static dust suppression insufficient, particularly when material exits processing equipment, is moved, stored or shipped.

The company has ordered five DB-60 dust suppression units mounted on wheeled carriages and five mounted on skids. “The mobility of the DB-60 means that we can take it to any area on our sites—be it stockpiling or processing—set it up and have it running in no time,” Rice says.

The DB-60 uses a series of 30 specially designed brass nozzles to atomize droplets to the optimum size for maximum particle attraction and coverage, according to Dust Control Technology. The water-fed design uses a 25-horsepower fan motor that generates 30,000 cubic feet per minute, for a throw of more than 200 feet, the company says.

All DustBoss models from Dust Control Technology are available with Variable Particle Sizing technology, providing customers with a selection of different nozzles for suppression a range of particle sizes.

Dust Control Technology is a leader in dust and odor control solutions for coal handling, demolition, recycling, scrap processing, mining, steel production and other bulk material applications. More information is available at www.dustboss.com.
