Harsco Corp. announced that its MultiServ mill services division has received a ten-year contract extension from ArcelorMittal Tubarao. The extension will support the plant's expansion from 5 to 7.5 million tons of slabs per year.
The contract extension includes nearly $60 million in added new services
and continues MultiServ's 12-year support of this client's core processes. The contract adds new service elements for the handling, processing and recovery of metallic content from the mill's basic oxygen furnace converter slag.
ArcelorMittal Tubarao currently operates three BOF converters with a combined capacity of 7.5 million tons of slabs per year. Under the new agreement, MultiServ is implementing a brand new slag processing area to handle the increase in materials to be processed and recycled in ArcelorMittal Tubarao's steelmaking process.
