The North Carolina Department of Labor (NCDOL) has awarded Metal Recycling Services’ (MRS) facilities in Monroe and Whiteville with its Gold level Certificate of Safety Achievement for 2014. The NCDOL recognized the locations for their safety and health efforts and the promotion of safe working conditions. The designation is the third consecutive year both facilities were recognized with the NCDOL’s safety award.
In order to qualify for the Gold award, each company must have 10 or more full-time employees, must have had zero lost time accidents and also must have achieved incident rates 50 percent below their NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) code.
“We are honored to receive these awards from the North Carolina Department of Labor in recognition of our commitment to safety,” says Bob Eviston, president of MRS. “Safety is our number one core value at MRS. Providing a safe environment for our employees and our customers is paramount to our success."
MRS operates three scrap recycling facilities in North Carolina: Gastonia, Monroe and Whiteville. Between the three facilities MRS has two automobile shredders, balers, shears, mobile shearing, torch processing, auto crushers and an extensive truck and railcar fleet.
MRS is wholly owned by The David J. Joseph Company (DJJ).
