MRAI prepares for 2017 event

The Metal Recycling Association of India (MRAI) will be holding its International Metals Recycling Conference 26-27 January in Jaipur, India. The event takes place at the Hotel Fairmont in that city, which is in the Indian state of Rajasthan.

The MRAI has arranged three previous International Metals Recycling Conferences in 2012, 2014 and 2015 at Delhi, Mumbai and again in Delhi respectively. The group says on average about 800 delegates, of which 300 came from outside India, have attended the previous events. In 2017 the MRA says it is expecting as many as 1,200 delegates.

The MRAI is billing the event as an “opportunity for individuals to introduce their businesses in the international market.”

The conference is designed to “deliver comprehensive market-driven information on metal recycling in India,” says the MRAI, adding that “the event will focus on various aspects of the scrap trade (ferrous and nonferrous) in India and the world.”

Topics to be covered include market reports, discussions on government policies that affect the import and trade of metal scrap in India, quality standards and inspection procedures, the status of shipping lines, customs duties, inspection procedures and “emerging opportunities, challenges and trends in the metal scrap recycling industry in India and the world.”

The MRAI says they expect the conference will be attended by industry leaders, officials from India’s Ministry of Steel, Ministry of Environment & Forests, Ministry of Commerce & Industry and representatives from shipping lines and other allied sectors.
