The Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County, Ill., and Motorola are co-sponsoring two computer and electronics recycling events next month. The first collection will be held July 14, at Motorola's Arlington Heights Campus. The second collection will be held July 21, at its Schaumburg Campus.
Only residentially generated equipment will be accepted at the collection sites. Other arrangements for all equipment from businesses, school districts, government agencies or institutions will have to be made with a computer/electronics recycling contractor.
Equipment that will be accepted include: computers and peripherals; personal home office equipment and products; small home appliances; entertainment and visual equipment; and home improvement products such as power tools. Air conditioners, microwaves and large home appliances will not be accepted.
United Recycling Industries, West Chicago, Ill., will process the collected material. URI specializes in electronic products recycling, servicing corporate accounts nationwide.
