Morbark Launches Quick Switch Conversion Kit

Conversion should take, on average, less than three hours to complete.

Morbark, Inc. announced the commercial release of the Morbark Quick Switch grinder-to-chipper conversion kit. The Quick Switch, available for Morbark track and rubber-tire horizontal grinder models 3800, 4600, 4600XL and 6600, makes it possible for current grinder owners to produce a marketable chip by modifying the horizontal grinder’s hammermill. The design of the Morbark grinder-to-chipper conversion kit allows an average conversion of a grinder to a chipper in less than three hours.

"This is a tremendous innovation for our customers remarked John Foote, V.P. of Sales and Marketing at Morbark. "The Quick Switch’s ability to change from grinding to chipping and back creates opportunities for horizontal grinder owners by giving them new markets to supplement their grinding operations. It is an ideal solution for anyone involved in, or wanting to be involved in, supplying biomass fuel."

"We expect the average conversion to be under three hours depending on the overall maintenance and condition of the mill", noted Gary Bardos, V.P. of Manufacturing for Morbark. "We have been able to produce very high quality fuel and pellet chips during beta testing in the field. These mills will produce a chip between 5/8" and 3/4" with some level of control toward reducing the size through managing the feed rates," Bardos added.

When it comes to waste management, efficiency, safety and reliability are priorities driving decisions from day one, according to staff members of the Macon County Solid Waste Management Department in western North Carolina. The agency operates a recycling plant in a facility originally designed to bale incoming materials. More recently, the building has undergone significant transformations centered around one machine: a SENNEBOGEN telehandler (telescopic handler).
