The International Molded Fibre Association held its "10th International Molded Fibre Product Seminar" earlier this month in San Diego. Eleven speakers presented papers on a variety of subjects related to the molded fiber industry, to eighty attendees representing companies from sixteen countries from Asia, Europe, North & South America and Africa.
Significant increases in interest in the use of natural and recycled fibers was reported in all parts of the world with customer demand and environmental sustainability, are primary drivers.
New advancements in manufacturing molded fiber products introduced, include new high volume production machines by the Pakit Corp. of Vancouver, BC.; a breakthrough on fast mold design and manufacturing by Stratasys Corp., Eden Prairie, MN; and a high quality printing system for use on molded fiber products by Grafiteco A/S of Denmark.
Katherine Jenkins of the Bose Corporation presented a case study on the use of molded fiber for packaging their products.
