Harry Bajaj, the founder and CEO of Noida, India-based Mobec Innovation Pvt. Ltd., has invested in more than one idea to find methods to support a transportation transition in India away from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and toward electric vehicles (EVs).
Mobec describes itself as India’s first full-range service provider of customizable mobile EV charging solutions and energy storage systems and also has invested in lithium-ion and EV battery recycling and refurbishment capacity.
In Noida, Mobec has deployed processes to recover materials from lithium-ion batteries and other end-of-life products, yielding lithium, cobalt, copper, nickel, aluminum, graphite and manganese, helping the nation reduce its dependency on mined resources.
The company processes black mass to recover materials from used batteries and can further extract essential minerals to create new, high-performance batteries.
On the refurbishment front, Mobec says it can test, service and upgrade old batteries for reuse in home energy storage, commercial storage or personal devices, “further contributing to waste reduction and sustainability.”
“Mobec’s operations are aligned with the global vision of decarbonizing transportation," the company says. "By recycling EV batteries and reusing recovered materials in new batteries, Mobec promotes resource conservation and supports India’s journey toward achieving net-zero emissions.”
Mobec also is investing to promote EV-powered travel and charging in India, activities that will require sufficient battery power and generate additional end-of-life batteries to be recycled.
The company aims to build, deploy and operate mobile EV charging infrastructure across India’s major cities, "ensuring seamless and eco-friendly energy solutions.”
Mobec is cultivating a future where green mobility meets innovative, accessible energy solutions, it says, “not only revolutionizing EV charging but also driving India’s transition to a sustainable, energy-efficient future.”
Earlier this year, Mobec was honored with an Excellence in Battery Manufacturing and Recycling Award at the Financial Express Mobility and Awards Summit, with Nitin Gadkari, India’s minister of road transport and highways, presenting the award.
Bajaj also operates a marketing company and has held leadership roles in other software-as-a-service and marketing companies, according to a biography prepared by Mobec.
