Tri-Miss Services, a Vicksburg, MS, scrap metal recycling facility, had its proposed plan to relocate to a larger facility denied by the city of Vicksburg, Miss., Zoning Board of Appeals. The company, which operates at a site slightly less than one acre, was looking to move to a larger, five acre facility, which previously was a scrap yard. However, opposition from residents in the area resulted in the board denying the request at a hearing May 2.
While both the existing scrap yard and the new location are both located in areas zoned for industry, according to city ordinances scrap recycling operation would need a special permit to operate at the facility.
The company has ten days in which to appeal the decision either to the Mayor’s office or the City Council member.
